Ring by Spring

Ring By Spring is a short comedic horror film directed by Jason McFarland that was made for our school’s annual film festival. It parodies the common Bible College trope of “ring by spring,” which refers to the rather speedy nature of dating relationships that tend to happen on the campuses of Christian colleges. It follows Jason himself as everyone around him succumbs to the virulent marital “disease.” This project won the award for Best Film for 2022.

This soundtrack (and really the entire film) was made under a strenuous time crunch - partially because of this, two of the songs in the film (not listed in the folder) are much earlier compositions that I made, one of them from high school. Still, this was a very fun and interesting soundtrack to make, and I especially got a chuckle out of quoting different “marital motifs” (such as the church bells and the melody of “Here Comes the Bride”) and recontextualizing them in a horror setting. The film can be viewed here: RingBySpring.mp4 - Google Drive.
